Small is Beautiful is a thoughtful 15x20 addition designed to provide an independent living space for the household’s support staff. Working within the architectural language and structural constraints of the existing home, the challenge was to create a compact yet dignified extension—functional, private, and full of small moments of joy.

To elevate the spatial experience, the roof was designed as a gentle vault—introducing a sense of spaciousness and softness. Hidden windows double as cozy seating nooks and integrate storage within their form, optimising every inch. A concealed skylight, positioned in response to the home’s orientation, introduces shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day, enriching the atmosphere with subtle delight.

The design carefully navigates the balance between privacy and proximity, creating a sense of independence while maintaining a connection to the main residence.

This modest intervention reaffirms our belief that every space, regardless of scale or user profile, deserves dignity, care, and beauty.
