The Verve is an unapologetic synthesis of a stark architectural expression with a deeply rooted Indian sentiment. Grounded austerity is the home’s most cherished asset, with each element integral to its overarching vision and experience.
Designed as a future-ready home, every space reflects deliberated decisions around aging-in-place, evolving needs, and multi-generational comfort. The layout expands and contracts to accommodate shifting scenarios, offering each inhabitant a sense of permanence and belonging. The home further extends as a milieu for animated with shared meals, conversation, and celebration- a frequent gathering space for friends and extended family.
The Verve is a quiet but confident response to contemporary urban living—where architecture is a reflection of memory, movement, and care. It is a home that listens, adapts, and gently gathers the lives it shelters.
At the center of the house is a courtyard on the eastern side. All private spaces—across generations—open toward this shared, tranquil core. A smaller nook, placed diagonally opposite, allows northeast-outhwest breeze, keeping the house cool year-round.
The kitchen was placed at the heart of the home—open and visible from the living and dining areas, transforming cooking into a shared, inclusive activity. The living space is layered—segmented into formal and informal zones through a level shift and a wooden partition.
Northern light was optimized and transom windows used throughout—ensuring the house remains naturally lit until dusk. Light became texture, through a continuous band of pergola that wraps around the facade, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow through the seasons.
Hear from our client
We approached Kanchana from Green Umbrella to build our dream house in Bangalore. It was a wonderful experience working with her. Her ability to visualise unique spaces in the house is excellent and each room in the house has turned out to be special.
They paid a lot of attention to our requirements. The many special architectural elements designed by her have added to the beauty of the house.
